It was the experience in the bush that is resonating. Yours was the most authentic experience and we feel blessed that we had the opportunity.
- Doreen Trudeau Anderson
The Makgadikgadi pans cover about 10 000 square kilometres of nothing but salt. These pans are fringed with grasslands and scattered palm trees.
When these pans flood during summer rains, migratory birds such as flamingos and pelicans come in their thousands to feed on the algae and newly released nourishments.
It is a sighting only seen once a year. One specific area of beauty is Kubu Island, in the Sowa Pans.
This national monument is a picture of fossil beaches, granite rocks and stunted red baobab trees.
